Hylands was engaged by the organizers of the inaugural 'Oceanfest' in 2017 and again in 2018 to facilitate free workshops for children and adults making ocean themed art. Cuttlefish carving was a longtime activity of Hylands - see sculpture gallery in portfolio - which she was able to share with the local community. It was a popular activity with easily achievable outcomes by young and old of all abilities.
Oceanfest is a well attended annual seafood and ocean themed festival held at the Burnett Heads Marina, and is run by the Bundaberg Rotary Club.
